Material Safety

How we describe materials

Material descriptions on this site are general and descriptive. Where a surface is described as body-safe or medical-grade silicone, that wording describes the class of material and how it is finished, not a certification we hold. We do not claim a specific certificate, standard number or approval for any item, and any documentation of that kind would have to come from the maker and be confirmed by the operator before this store accepts live orders.

Silicone, cloth and coatings

Silicone used in adult goods is normally a platinum-cured, non-porous elastomer, chosen because it can be washed, does not hold odours and stays stable across a wide range of temperatures. Storage components in our catalogue are more often textiles and coatings: brushed cotton, woven satin, EVA foam, moulded ABS and powder-coated steel. Cloth is porous by nature, which is why our care notes push towards washing bags and drying linings fully rather than wiping them over.

Phthalates

Our stated position is that the soft plastics and coatings used in this catalogue are phthalate-free. That is a general material statement about what we ask suppliers for, not a laboratory result attached to a particular batch, and it is the kind of claim the operator should be able to evidence from supplier declarations before this store accepts live orders.

Cleaner compatibility

Warm water and a mild, unscented soap are compatible with silicone, ABS, powder coating and cotton alike. Concentrated sanitiser sprays are hard on some coatings and can dull a matte finish, so use them sparingly, on hard surfaces only. Oil-based cleaners and abrasive creams should be kept away from satin, foam and printed retail boxes. Silicone-based lubricants can stain cotton and satin and are best kept off textiles altogether. Dry every surface before it is stored, because trapped moisture is the main reason a stored item develops a smell.

Storing materials next to each other

Soft plastics can interact with each other over long periods, and a matte coating can pick up colour from a dark dye. Keeping each item in its own pouch or bag removes the problem entirely, which is why this catalogue is arranged around separate containers rather than one shared drawer.

California Proposition 65

Whether a Proposition 65 warning is required for a given item depends on an exposure assessment and on the exact components used. That assessment is not ours to make on a product page. Prop 65 wording must be confirmed by the operator before this store accepts live orders, and our separate Prop 65 page explains what that means and how to ask for component detail.
